Description

ICT Week - The Bahamas

Theme: Internet Imperatives for the Caribbean Single ICT Space

ICT Week and the 16th Caribbean Ministerial Strategic ICT Seminar will address the significant role that the Internet will play in laying a technological foundation and supporting the development of the Single ICT Space. It will first present the latest developments in the Internet, its technologies and its resources and their implications for social and economic development. The Seminar will explore the tremendous opportunities for growth and development that are available in cyberspace and the challenges currently experienced by Caribbean users in seizing them.

Given the recent devastating destruction that occurred on several Caribbean territories after the passage of severe storms and hurricanes, the region must ask itself: How can we become less vulnerable? And how do we increase our resilience to the unavoidable impacts of climate change? In light of this, participants will also be introduced to strategies and actions, which can reduce the adverse effects of natural disasters to enable faster and more effective recovery.
